HOW to Purchase

The cost all depends upon what you want exactly.  I can honestly say that I've spent upwards of 300 hours per section developing curricula, activities, etc.  The website possesses many different features, i.e. Assignments and note taking activities students can download and print at their leisure; web pages that literally read the contents to students; multiple and various review activities for students to complete in order to master the content (includes formative practice tests so a student can gauge their own readiness); original movies built into the pages to augment learning outcomes and increase student interest; a historical narrative written in a humorous but professional style (I tried to avoid boring students to death by emulating the writing style of Dartmouth Professor Will Ferguson (author of "Canadian History for Dummies").

Note: by the way, my site compliments the CBC video series Canada: A People's History (so if you have those videos lying around you could use them to augment your history program).

Below are three "packages".  Please take some time to read what is available in each and let me know what you're interested in.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

PACKAGE 1
$400.00 taxes included in price
(includes lifetime shipping and handling costs for any subsequent materials, DVDs that need to be sent to you).

CONTENT RIGHTS
A). You receive a DVD containing the website and all of the interactive activites, i.e. games, movies, sound files, interactive whole class activities, exams, exam outlines, etc.

i). Your school has the right to run the program on your LAN and  install an unlimited number of copies of the "student version" on student laptops or desktops at their home residence (minus the Teacher Zone of course).
ii). All of my assignments are modifiable, in that, they're created in MS Word, etc.  You would have the right to modify any assignments or tests.  You would not of course be allowed to alter the written text of the site; however, you could report bugs or inaccuracies to me and I'd be more than happy to fix them with respect to the readings.
iii). You have the right to make back-up copies of the DVD in the event your primary disc gets damaged or lost.
iv). You receive free online technical support throughout the school year, i.e. If something isn't working properly simply send me off an email and I'll reply a.s.a.p. and get you up and running.

ACCESS RIGHTS
B.) Lifetime online access to the online site for as long as it is up and running (I have the domain secured currently for another three years and the site has been up for about eight).

i). Your school would receive a unique log-in and home page on the website's online home page.  This home page provides a central location where all assignments can be downloaded, etc.  I also like to send news updates to teachers through their home pages.

UPDATE RIGHTS

C). Free life time minor updates to the online version of Virtual Canada.  These typically are glitches with menus, typos, or other small technical issues.

i). Life time free access to major updates.  I have several major updates planned: 1). New section added called "Section 5: Canada & the Golden Age" along with corresponding student/teacher resources; 2). Updated exam outlines for each section for the purposes of student formative assessment and preparation; 3). Text book version of the Virtual Canada 2.0 readings for work off-line (to be implemented once section 5 is completed); iv). Midterm review activities and midterm exams that can be used to evaluate student understanding of sections 1 to 5.
ii). Life time free access to SMART Board activities included with the program.**

**I'm busy putting together materials to present through this medium.  One of the great things about the Virtual Canada program is there's already an abundance of interactive applications, games, activities, movies, etc. on the site.  You could make use of these immediately in a SMART Board classroom environment.

PACKAGE 2
$325.00 taxes included in price along with shipping and handling

CONTENT RIGHTS
A). No Virtual Canada Binder sent; however, you will receive a DVD and from this resource you can print off all the materials yourself.

ii). You have the right to make a back-up copy of the DVD.
ii). You receive free online technical support throughout the school year.

ACCESS RIGHTS
B). Lifetime access to the online site for as long as it is up and running.

i). Your school receives a unique log-in and home page on the website's online home page.
ii). The DVD you receive will likewise have a unique log-in and teacher home page for use on the school's LAN.
iii). You would not receive the "student version" of the program to install on student laptops.  You could only run the program on your LAN.

UPDATE RIGHTS
C). Free life time minor updates to the online version of Virtual Canada.

i). The right to receive one major update for free (see PACKAGE 1 "Update Rights" for major updates planned).  You would receive only the first of the major updates that become available on a new DVD sent to your school for the purposes of updating your program on the school LAN).
ii). Any of the subsequent major updates made to the program will cost $25.00 plus shipping and handling costs (sent to you on a DVD by courier) if you want these updates available on your LAN.
iii). However, you and your students could access the "upgrades" by accessing them at www.vcanada2.com for no additional cost.  Note: LANs are about 10 times faster than Internet connections.  I would definitely recommend making use of the power of your LAN in order to run the Virtual Canada 2 program (and any upgrades); it's worth it.
